Paris' Catalogue imprint has been bringing the discerning record-buying public its own brand of rarefied electronic gems for some time now and with two four-track, 12-inch releases on the way from Sporto Kantes and Williams Traffic, you are in for a treat. The Sporto Kantes EP plumbs familiar languid, downbeat depths with the evocative vocal samples of Party and the dubbed-down grooves of Oh Nuit before moving on to the wicked new reggae of Buster and Food with its female vocal funk. Williams Traffic break more ethnic, experimental ground with the twisted raps of I Man Dub and the Middle Eastern vibes of Reflection while the B-side ushers in the jazzy and slightly disturbing Dark Blue and Albertine D. Two useful bits of plastic.
