This one’s been out for a while but I only just caught up with it. Wayne Bennett has previously produced for Roots Manuva and this hard to find 7” pushes the hip hop-reggae sound heard on Run Come Save Me further towards the dancehall end of the spectrum. MC Earl J, singer Wayne Paul and the booming gruffness of Aurelius combine over a heavy marching bassline to create a distinctive UK bashment feel that is certain to ram the dance every time. The dub on the flip has Wayne Paul’s sung vocal brought to the front of the mix to give more of an old skool roots feel. The next 7 in the series is out next week – get it while you can!
