This new EP from Madlib's label Stones Throw introduces the unhinged Captain Funkaho to the world. A lifelong lover of goats and sometime advisor to Pablo Escobar, Funkaho comes along with some head-banging hard rock on the retro Villain Style (tho' it's still got those crisp Stones Throw production values). Goatworld is tripped out downbeat hip hop with a sweet female vocal singing the praises of the world of goats and a heavy, lolloping bass line. The other tracks on the EP take in funk and rock in a psychedelic style, all featuring the surreal vocals of 'El Capitan' himself and a selection of strange samples. Weird but undoubtedly inspired stuff.
