Terry Hall and Mushtaq
This Is How We Roll (Baby G Mixes)Honest Jon's continue in their tradition of releasing only the finest examples of reggae and dancehall with this new twelve inch. They handed over former Specials supremo Terry Hall and Mushtaq's world music excursion to Baby G, son of the great King Jammy and one of Jamaica's hottest up and coming bashment producers. His dancefloor friendly version of this tune combines satisfyingly complex percussion with samples of the original's oriental guitars and flutes, mining the rich seam also exploited by last year's Indian/Arabian bashment riddims. One cut has the excellent vocal trio Ward 21 explaining just how they roll and why their style 'cannot be stolen' you would know if you'd heard them and the other has a more soulful vocal from Rasta Youth. An instrumental and an accapella complete this desirable package; all credit to Honest Jon's for handing over to a Jamaican producer for a memorable rerub.
