Adaadat are one of those labels that have been around for a while now, have a very dedicated following, throw amazing parties, but still seem to be criminally overlooked. By now they should be superstars, parading around the electronics scene like the cat that got the cream. With releases out by the likes of Ove-naxx, Donna Summer and Utabi, and then John Peel making them his label of the month that can't be too far off.

There is something very exciting about these boys and their sister Japanese label, 19-T. It feels like there is something brewing, something that's going to explode and make Adaadat one of the big players. Bring on the new blood.

Today head honchos Angus and Bjorn handed me the first 7" in their ultra-limited split series – and let me tell you, it's a stonker. Side one is home to two incredibly energetic DJ 100000000 (pronounced in Austin Powers style) tracks that are doused from top to bottom in his unique combination of spazzy, yet controlled beat programming and his fantastic twisted melodies. It has that Japanese-sounding edge to it that most artists just can't seem to get close to. Side two is home to Angus's Atom Truck project, which again makes full use of frantic beats and splices them with awesome chewed up, computer game-style rhythms that just take you over and force your ass to shake. It's so good to have nicely screwed up music that you can dance to with out too much effort. You have to admit that it can be a bit difficult sometimes working out which way to throw your limbs when trying to get down to this stuff!

This is one of those EPs that, as soon as I heard it, I wanted to get it out on a set of huge speakers and rag the hell out of them with it. It has all the slamming grit of breakcore, yet when the melody hits in you begin to realise that the tracks have an anthemic feel to them, which is what a lot of recent releases on other labels lack – something to make them stand out in a set. These tracks will bring out the trainspotter in a lot of the people – that urge to go up to the DJ with a notepad and look over his shoulder.
