Wren
Drive Down Lines
By Andy Parsons

Seemingly drawing inspiration from Lou Barlow's folk implosion project, the latest in the line of small pretty things from aptly titled Manchester-based label Melodic records is the debut single from Birmingham native Nick Peill and a provides a little taste of his forthcoming full length album. This clear vinyl slice of pastoral loveliness takes a simple, slightly 90s indie guitar line and gently layers it with a catchy mishmash of electronic clicks and glitches, creating a track which could happily sit side by side with any track from Manitoba's fantastic Up In Flames. The B side is a more introspective affair as drifting, floating vocals get caught up in a dreamy, child-like melody. With all this attention to detail Nick's debut could be something quite special indeed.
