Almighty Father

One time acid jazz musician and garage remixer Ceri Evans aka Sunship is pushing his sound in a different direction with this latest release on Ross Allen's Casual imprint. He's teamed up with esteemed Bug collaborator and all round raggamuffin diva Warrior Queen for Almighty Father, a squelching slice of ragga inspired breaks. Sunship's pounding beats are offset by an eerie synth which winds itself around the riddim and Warrior Queen's hypnotic, high energy flows. Her lascivious musings manage to combine raunchiness with a rhythmic intensity and flow worthy of Jamaica's finest bashment deejays and the excellent production on her voice, which begins to phase unsettlingly in and out at the end of the tune, makes this the complete package.
