This red vinyl 12” from The Bug follows hard on the heels of the album Pressure. It takes up the ragga/hardcore sounds of tracks like Killer and Run The Place Red using The Bug’s familiar bashment template to mind and knee bending effect. As with some previous Bug singles, the sparser, heavier version on the flip may prove more destructive on the dance floor. Cutty Ranks lends the track some authentic raggamuffin vibes with a typically militant vocal which brings to mind his first ever 45 – Gunman Lyrics. Although he’s pushing 40, Ranks seems to be everywhere at the moment – there are two new represses out of the classic Who Say Mi Duhn (one on the excellent Nice Up The Dance compilation) and he can be heard tearing it up on the new Nextmen 7” ‘Silent Weapon’. Credit must go to The Bug and The Rootsman for enlisting his services as well as for some heavy production.
