Schubert
Murdering Yourself
By Edward Blake

As dark as whatever it was that lurked under The Trap Door, Schubert (a member of the Imperial Gold project) has produced four twisted sludge-house tracks. Defiantly un-funky, these tracks still have the potential to move the floor just by being so hypnotic and malevolently moody. The title track takes hammer-horror samples and weaves a sickly ice-house beat behind it, but the best track for me has got to be Subconscious, which sounds like the sort of thing a family of moles might have on in the background as they eat their underground Sunday dinner.
